Westworld Q&A session at Tribeca shut down after one question

The Westworld Q&A comes to an abrupt stop after fan asks to share his script with Jonathan Nolan at the Tribeca Film Festival

Things got a bit awkward at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival when the cast of Westworld gathered for a panel to discuss the upcoming season. When the Q&A session began, it was immediately shut down after just one question. Yup, one question. So what exactly went down?

If you forward to the 49-minute mark in the video below, you can bear witness to this short-lived moment. A fan bravely made his way to the mike to address Jonathan Nolan and share his love and appreciation for his work. But then things took a turn when he conveyed he and his brother have a screenplay they’d love for him to read one day.

"“We love the show and how it’s able to keep the audience captivated. We love this show. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the season has in store for us. Just a side thing for Jonathan, my brother and I we’re huge fans of ‘Interstellar.’ You wrote that, and we’re actually aspiring screenwriters as well and that inspired us a lot. And you’ve touched something within us and we hope one day we can share our screenplay with you.”"

Grumbles and groans can be heard collectively throughout the audience as the fan wraps up his question, er statement. And just like that, the Q&A came to an abrupt end after the moderator chimed in to say, “Good night, everybody!” Yikes, talk about awkward.

In a span of less than four minutes, the entire session/panel came to a complete end after the moderator gauged where the fan’s request was leading to. Nolan did thank the fan over the vocal disapproval of the audience, but it was in that moment that the moderator stepped in to end the session. This was extremely unlucky for all the fans present as the panel included Thandie Newton, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, and Jeffrey Wright.

Well, there’s always next time…right?

Westworld season two premieres on Sunday, April 22nd on HBO at 9 P.M. EST!
