Catching up on every Westworld character going into season two

Where did we leave off the characters of Westworld at the end of season one? Let’s refresh our minds!

Westworld, oh dear Westworld. After a critically acclaimed premiere season, Westworld will finally return to our television screens! And we simply cannot wait a minute longer. There is so much to unpack after the events of season one, and so much yet to come (especially based on the insane stills and trailers!). And it is safe to assume that season two will surpass season one in every single way.

It’s been a solid sixteen months since we last dove into the intriguing, perplexing narrative of Westworld. And with such a long hiatus, we obviously have to re-binge season one or read this article to recall where we left every character. In preparation for the season two premiere tonight, let’s go back down memory lane and revisit all we can about Westworld. So let’s get to it, shall we?

Man in Black/William

Westworld
Westworld

As we learned in a shocking season one reveal, Man in Black and William are one in the same person. This opened up a floodgate of theories and speculation once fans realized that the narratives weren’t always in the same timeline. As you know, the Man in Black has been coming to Westworld for years and eventually went on to own it.

His journey in the first season was centered on finding the Maze–something Arnold hid within the park to represent his ideas on consciousness. When season one ended, the Man in Black had just been shot by Clementine–as the host rebellion began to kick off.

Dr. Robert Ford

Westworld
Westworld

Dr. Robert Ford, played by Anthony Hopkins, is the creator of Westworld–alongside Arnold. After Arnold died, Ford re-created him by making a host replica and named him Bernard. Throughout the first season, Ford assumes the role of park director–and is extremely cryptic.

The season one finale threw us for a loop when Dolores killed Ford during the gala. His final words, however, are telling everyone that Arnold wanted the hosts to be free and also confiding in Bernard that a host rebellion was always part of his narrative for the hosts. Going into season two, fans are clinging to the hope that the Ford that Dolores killed was a host–and not actually Ford himself.

Logan

Westworld
Westworld

The incredibly handsome Logan, played by Ben Barnes, is introduced in season one as the brother of William’s fiance. Delos, the company that operates Westworld, is owned by his family. We last saw Logan, when William tells him that he plans to invest into Westworld which sets Logan off. Hopefully, season two will explore their dynamic further and explain where Logan’s character is in the present timeline.

Charlotte Hale

Westworld
Westworld

Sneaky, sneaky Charlotte. She spent most of the first season plotting against Ford and seems to have zero to little care for the hosts of Westworld. Chances are she is the first person the host rebellion is going to target–so good luck, Charlotte! Her role in Westworld is that of an executive director of Delos. She was last seen in the season one finale after Dolores kills Ford and begins to fire at the crowd. Based on the look on her face, she is definitely freaking out.

Elsie Hughes

Westworld
Westworld

Oh, dear Elsie. She is Westworld’s resident host behavioral analyst. She works in the lab focusing on solving any issues in the hosts’ personality and behaviors. Her fate? Well, Bernard choked her and recalls that she died at his hands. But is she truly dead? Guess we’ll find out soon enough!

Felix Lutz

Westworld
Westworld

Felix’s journey in the first season is quite the interesting one to follow–especially when it collides with Maeve. He works in the “body shop” of Westworld and repairs any damages to hosts. By the first season’s end assists Maeve in her quest to find her daughter and tells her where the host, who once played her daughter, is located.

Dolores

More from Westworld

Dolores is the epicenter of Westworld, and not to mention, the oldest active host there. To say that her narrative in the first season was interesting is putting it lightly. Throughout the season, she slowly gains consciousness and becomes aware of her life as a host. In the season finale, she shoots Ford in the head and then begins firing at the crowd. Oh, plus her programming is combined with that of Wyatt’s–a villain in the making.

Bernard

Westworld

Learning Bernard’s true identity was one of the biggest season one shockers–and one that we’re still trying to process a year and a half later. The reveal that Bernard is a host that Ford created to replace his partner Arnold is still one of the biggest moments in Westworld history. We last saw him as a spectator at the gala as Dolores opened fire on Ford and the crowd.

Teddy

Westworld
Westworld

Dolores is the love of Teddy’s life and his programming manages to always lead him to her in every loop and narrative he goes through. Things take a violent turn once Dolores learns of Arnold’s plans to use her and Teddy to kill all the hosts, in order to prevent the park from opening. The last we saw of Teddy was him as yet another spectator during Dolores’ frightening shooting spree.

Clementine

Westworld
Westworld

We first met Clementine as a prostitute who works in Westworld’s local brothel. During the first season, see two versions of Clementine as a host and last saw her during the gala shooting the Man in Black in the arm.

Maeve

Westworld
Westworld

Maeve runs the local brothel and is one of the most exhilarating characters we bear witness to in Westworld. The fascinating thing about her is she is the first host to notice something is off about her existence. She experiences flashbacks of past memories including ones of her daughter–who she decides to go look for.

However, despite her refusal to believe so, Bernard tells her that she was programmed to escape all along. In the season finale, she gets on a train to leave Westworld but ends up getting off to presumably look for her daughter.

Ashley Stubbs

Westworld
Westworld

Ashley is Westworld’s head of security–and a Hemsworth if anyone was wondering. We last saw him in search of Elsie, whose tracking device gave off a signal when she wasn’t meant to be working. When Ashley goes into Westworld he is attacked by warrior hosts who ignore his demands to “cease all motor functions”.

Hector

Westworld
Westworld

Hector is a permanent fugitive in the simulation of Westworld and shares an intimate connection with Maeve throughout the first season. He and Armistice help Maeve kill security, but he does not follow her out of the lab. His character’s fate is unknown–and hopefully, one second season will reveal.

Armistice

Westworld
Westworld

Most notably known for her badass snake tattoo, Armistice is Hector’s partner-in-crime during the first season. She exacts revenge on those that attacked her village as a child, and then uses their blood to color in her tattoo. But she is keeping the snake’s head for one person in particular–Wyatt. In the season finale, she is left behind and is last seen cutting her arm off to break free.
