CHAOS IS GOOD

Episode 1 packed a wallop and we were all glitching in its aftermath. I’m grateful that HBO is allowing a more old school viewing experience. Binge watching season 2 entirely in one sitting would completely fry our brains. Bernard can definitely relate, right? Westworld is a real thinking show and season 2 is no exception.

Last week we saw multiple timelines, Bernard struggling in every possible way, ominous drone hosts, Dolores’ new rope tricks,  black tie guests running for their lives, and the Man in Black eating beef jerky and not playing nice with young host Ford. We also saw host Angela refining her poker face and hunting skills.

To get ready for the next chaotic episode, we’ve closely watched the preview and broken it down into more bite-sized pieces. Here’s what you can expect from episode 2!

COCKTAILS ANYONE?

Dolores is in a new modern setting. She’s also had a head to toe makeover and looking very sophisticated. With a little black dress and slick-backed hair, she looks more like a Westworld greeter than the sweet ol’ Sweetwater rancher’s daughter. At this high-rise cocktail party, there is her best buddy Logan and possibly Wyatt super fan Angela.

The metropolis full of skyscrapers in the background might be a clue to where Westworld is actually located–it could be off the coast of Japan. In episode 1, newcomer Gustaf Skarsgård (from History Channel’s Vikings) plays Karl Strand. He yells at a uniformed Asian man to “get off my island” when he is surveying and assessing damages at the beach at the park.

IT’S ALL BUSINESS

Younger William looks very dapper in his business attire and fresh off of his first visit to the park. He brings the mysterious boss himself, James Delos, with him to Westworld to convince him to invest more money in it. BTW, wanna work for Delos? I took their fun placement test. I got ‘narrative’ so Sizemore will be my boss.

Can you imagine what Sizemore wears on a casual Friday?! We also see William in a unique setting: asking naked cheeks-in-the-seat early host Dolores questions in the Behavior Lab. It looks dark and mysterious. Hence, the fledgling Man in Black is here.

ANOTHER NEWBIE

Another treat in the preview is a glimpse into another new character named Akecheta played by Zahn McClarnon known for Longmire, Into The West, and AMC’s gorgeous Western epic The Son. Fun fact: Peter Abernathy/Louis Herthum was also on Longmire. That’s six degrees of Westworld for you!

SHARPEN YOUR BLADES

Step aside Michonne from The Walking Dead; there’s a new warrior in town. In episode 1, park 6 is mentioned. It’s the ever anticipated Shogun World! In the original 1973 Westworld movie based Michael Crichton’s book, there are three worlds for guests to choose from: Roman World, Medieval World, and Westworld.

In Shogun World, we find Maeve in a geisha outfit and sporting a samurai katana in hand. Cannot wait to see what fun she will have there! We also get a living glimpse of her with her daughter. Is this part of her narrative or did she actually find her beloved daughter?

ROAD READY

The ball of sunshine known as Charlotte Hale (Tessa Thompson) is alive and well riding in a jeep. She’s most likely going to retrieve host with the most Peter Abernathy and his 30-year data cache. In episode 1, we see a montage of Bernard having chaotic flashbacks and one of them is of Peter Abernathy glitching.

REUNITED AND IT FEELS SO GOOD

This episode’s name is “Reunion” so no doubt there will be scenes that reunite old friends and enemies. Bernard and Dolores will continue to ask life’s big questions across multiple timelines.  Dolores will sport new fashion while Bernard is still on an emotional roller coaster. We’ll see the return of Clementine, “that’s the spirit” Logan, and possibly Peter Abernathy.

Next: Westworld season 2: 5 questions we have after Episode 1

Charlotte is in full windswept riot gear chic in an ATV. Younger William will show his business savvy with entrepreneur James Delos in the park and finds his way into the Westworld Behavior lab. The second of 6 parks, Shogunworld, will be introduced and Maeve will see her first snowflakes and katana. There is lots to look forward to and we simply can’t wait!

Now check out the trailer to get you hyped for episode two!

It should be another action-packed, gorgeously filmed, and complex episode. So hunker down, grab a glass of cold milk, some beef jerky, and tune into HBO’s Westworld this Sunday night at 9 P.M EST!
