“Hey, they were in Game of Thrones”—Where else have you seen these 55 GoT cast members? (Part 2)
11) BEN CROMPTON
English actor Ben Crompton first appeared as Eddison “Dolorous Edd” Tollet in season 2, and while he began his tenure as a minor player, he survived year after year and slowly got more to do. Edd is now the acting Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch and may play a pivotal role in the climactic events of season 8. Crompton plays Edd with equal parts sardonicism and sincerity, and turned him into someone we believe is capable of leading the black brothers in the great war to come.
Crompton tells Metro that Thrones is “going out with a bang,” and that the feeling on set is changed this time around. “There is a slightly different atmosphere on set. In previous seasons, whether you survived that series or not, you knew the show was continuing. Now whether you survive or not, it’s coming to an end.”
Crompton’s first TV role was as a protestor in The Thin Blue Line TV series (1996), a show that also featured future Thrones players Mark Addy (Robert Baratheon), Owen Teale (Alliser Thorne) and Rupert Vansittart (Yohn Royce), plus Alfie Allen’s uncle, Kevin Allen.
If you missed that one episode of The Thin Blue Line, Crompton may look familiar due his parts in films like Les Miserables (1998), All or Nothing (looking young below, 2002), 102 Dalmations (2002), and TV shows like Clocking Off (2001-2003), North & South (2004), Man Stroke Woman (2005-2007), Hit & Miss (2012) and, of course, Doctor Who (above, 2014).
Crompton can be seen in the Vera and C.B. Strike TV series in 2018.
