36) ISAAC HEMPSTEAD-WRIGHT

If any actor can be said to have truly grown up on Game of Thrones, it’s Isaac Hempstead-Wright. We’ve watched him portray Brandon Stark throughout the whole of his adolescence, guiding the character through difficult trials. Bran’s character arc is odd and twisting, and Hempstead-Wright has always kept it grounded.

In an interview with The Straits Times, Hempstead-Wright talks about childhood on the Thrones set, saying he lives in a “tiny village in the middle of a rural part of England” and that “[i]t was my sense of normality to just go off to Belfast and dress up in a funny costume and hang out in a woodland and play this strange character. It became this strange summer camp.”

Hempstead-Wright’s professional acting career really began with Thrones. He’s appeared in films and TV shows along the way, such as The Awakening (2011, above), Closed Circuit (2013, with Thrones veterans Jim Broadbent and Ciaran Hinds), Family Guy (2014, voice) and The Boxtrolls (2014, voice, below).

And how will this show he grew up on end? Hempstead-Wright tells The Hollywood Reporter he thinks it will be sad, but that Thrones is going to go out with a bang:

"As long as we feel we’ve done the story justice, and have done justice to George’s universe and David and Dan’s vision, then that’s really all we can hope for. It won’t go the way some people want. It will be too happy for some people, or too sad, or too whatever. That’s the nature of an ending … But overall, I think we’re going to smash it."

Hempstead-Wright must be busy with Thrones, school and hanging out with his best friend Dean-Charles Chapman (Prince Tommen, R.I.P.) these days, since he has no new projects listed on IMDb.
