“Hey, they were in Game of Thrones”—Where else have you seen these 55 GoT cast members? (Part 2)
46) ROBERT PUGH
We all hated the depraved character of Craster, and Welsh actor Robert Pugh must have had a lot of fun playing such an irredeemable fellow. Thrones likes to bring in actors with a lot of experience for small but colorful parts, and Pugh fits the bill.
Pugh’s TV career began in 1976 with an appearance in the series Angels. He’s stacked up a lot of work since then, including parts on The Man from Moscow (1985), Casualty (1986-1987), Inspector Morse (1992), The Bill (1992), Silent Witness (1999-2008), Doctor Who (2010), The White Queen (2013, above) and Mr. Selfridge (2016).
Pugh’s list of film jobs is even more impressive, with projects like Horror Planet (1981), The Englishman Who Went up a Hill but Came Down a Mountain (1995), Enigma (2001), Master and Commander: the Far Side of the World (2003), Kingdom of Heaven (2005), Goodnight Irene (2008, below), The Ghost Writer (2010) and Robin Hood (2010).
In a conversation with The Telegraph, Pugh mentioned that “The White Queen is more interesting (to him) than Game of Thrones because it’s real:”
"Kids come up to me and point at me and say . . . “Craster! Game of Thrones!” Apparently it’s quite big . . . The settings are both medieval, although of course, one is fantasy. They had bigger cameras for Game of Thrones, though. This is a bit more interesting for me in a sense because it’s real. I’m not a fantasy kind of guy. In this, once you get into the costumes, and step into those medieval halls, you’re back in that century."
Pugh is currently appearing in the TV series Knightfall and the film features Colette and Chariot.
