49) TARA FITZGERALD

Selyse Baratheon is a tragic, unhappy figure whose life consists of a string of misfortunes and disastrous decisions. Being married to the emotionless Stannis Baratheon couldn’t have helped much, either. To play Selyse, English actress Tara Fitzgerald had to convey the ever-present pain at her center.

Despite Selyse’s melancholy, Fitzgerald tells theExpress UK that she really enjoyed her experience on Thrones:

"I loved being part of it. I couldn’t believe it when I got a role. I was so happy. (Thrones has) pushed possibilities for universal reach to a whole new place. I had an incredible response. There are multiple sets, multiple units in multiple countries (but) when it comes down to it, you are just two actors in a room, with the crew. However gargantuan the thing, the basic premise remains the same: you’re on a set with a handful of people focusing very hard."

Fitzgerald is a veteran actor you’ve probably seen somewhere. Her TV credits include Anglo-Saxon Attitudes (1992), Mystery!: Cadfael (1994), The Tenant of Wildfell Hall (1996), The Virgin Queen (2006), Jane Eyre (2006), Waking the Dead (2007-2011) and In the Club (2014-2016).

As for movies, Fitzgerald has appeared in features like Sirens (1994, above), Brassed Off (1996, below), Conquest (1998), Dark Blue World (2001), Exodus: Gods and Kings (2014), Child 44 (2015) and Legend (2015).

Fitzgerald has a ton of stuff coming out in 2018, including Deirdre of the Sorrows, The Runaways and the TV series Requiem.
