Last week’s episode of Westworld was epic, to say the least. The return and presence of Ford had each and every one of us glued to our television screens–and we couldn’t get enough. After learning that Bernard is actually a host, Charlotte proceeds to make his life a living hell until he reveals where the control unit from Peter Abernathy’s head is located.

He finally tells her it is in Sector 16, Zone 4, aka The Valley Beyond. And so, of course, it makes sense to assume that now we will finally head to the one place that has been at the epicenter of the season. But Westworld thrives on confusing the hell out of us, and it seems they’ve done it once again.

The very first time Bernard says something to Charlotte, we don’t actually hear what is said. The scene immediately after, Charlotte brings in the other guys and has Bernard “repeat” what he just told her. As it always, Reddit began blowing up with theories on what is actually going on here.

In one particular thread, most of the fans were alluding to the theory that someone is making Bernard lie. Could it be that Charlotte made him repeat something she wanted him to say? IF this is true, then Charlotte may not actually be on Delos’ side, and be working for someone else entirely.

One theory speculates more so on how that scene relates to the events that take place earlier in the episode–namely the ones with Ford controlling Bernard.

"“I’m guessing we’ll see [this scene] again, but with Ford standing there, pulling Bernard’s string. He’s setting up Delos.”"

Oh, Ford–you aren’t going to let Bernard off the hook, are you?

And if none of the above are true, then perhaps bringing attention to Charlotte and Bernard’s whispers is nothing but an act to fool us. With Westworld, that is never out of the realm of possibilities. Sigh, I guess we will have to wait and see what Sector 16, Zone 4 brings.

Westworld airs every Sunday on HBO at 9 PM EST!
