Season 8 filming: Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) still near Titanic Studios
By Corey Smith
Game of Thrones season 8 might be largely finished, but there are still a few hot spots, most notably the King’s Landing set at Titanic Studios in Belfast.
We’re seeing fewer and fewer cast members in the mix — we know that several have wrapped for good — but there are still some going about their business. Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson (the Mountain) posted a picture of himself from behind the scenes, and Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) was spotted nearby:
First, we’re with Emma here; saying hi to the Mother of Dragons would be intimidating. More pertinently, Clarke is one of the few major cast members still spotted in the area during these final days, on hand as the King’s Landing set goes through major changes. We have seen a large dragon rig on the scene, and so it only makes sense that their mom would be nearby.
For a while, Clarke was busy jetting around the world promoting Solo: A Star Wars Story (shame about the box office), so maybe she’s hanging around late in the rotation to make up for time she missed. And remember: there’s a lot she can do at Titanic Studios beyond shooting on the King’s Landing set. Has she filmed on whatever monster set the crew built inside the Paint Hall?
For now, we’ll just treasure the few behind-the-scenes images we have left. Before long, they’ll be over for good.
