As Game of Thrones ends, Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) ponders her future
By Corey Smith
As filming on Game of Thrones season 8 winds down, the stars have begun to reflect on their time on the show. From Emilia Clarke (Daenerys) issuing a heartfelt goodbye to the production to Kit Harington sharing his plan to shear his flowing locks when shooting is over, everyone seems to be coming to grips with the fact that Game of Thrones is ending. Thanks to a recent tweet, we can add Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) to the list:
It’s interesting to hear her talk about looking forward to growing up, since we’ve been watching Williams on the show since she was a young teenager and seen her grow by leaps and bounds. But at 21, she’s still young and has a lot to look forward to; frankly, a house full of dogs sounds like the best post-Game of Thrones plan we’ve heard yet.
But before that happens, Williams will mark another milestone: she’ll make her stage debut at the Hampstead Theatre in London as Caroline in I and You, a 2014 play by playwright Lauren Gunderson. The play follows a burgeoning friendship between Caroline, a young woman in need of a life-saving organ transplant, and Anthony, who arrives at Caroline’s tiny apartment to work on a homework assignment.
Again, it’s weird to realize that Williams has become a famous actress without ever appearing on stage, but such is the power of Game of Thrones.
Naturally, Williams has more onscreen roles lined up, too. After season 8 has aired (we assume), you’ll be able to see her as the mutant Wolfsbane in The New Mutants, an X-Men spinoff, in August of 2019.
