WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW
This past weekend, the cast and crew of Game of Thrones gathered for a wrap party in Belfast, during which everyone looked to have a real good time. Then, days later, they were back to work on the King’s Landing set at Titanic Studios. The end of filming isn’t going to stop this crew from…filming.
Although really, we expected this; according to A Red Priestess, who took these pictures, shooting on this set is going to run through this week, after which it really is all over. We just hope the cast and crew members still working aren’t nursing severe hangovers — wouldn’t wanna drop a mic.
As for the images themselves, they’re more of what we’ve already seen: the city is in rough shape, with a ruined gate, a cracked dome structure, a blackened guard tower, and smoke hanging over the whole thing. Has someone put the city to the torch? Did Cersei light a wildfire bomb? Did dragons come calling? Are White Walkers invading, preceded by their telltale cold mist? All of the above?
The guard tower above is of special interest. It looks like it’s been burned from the inside, with the window ashed out. Last week, we saw the crew attaching a green screen on the side of the tower, indicating that it’s going to take such a beating that special effects will be needed to show the extent of the damage. We think that’s what we’re looking at in this image:
One more question: who is still filming? According to A Red Priestess, who’s been an utterly invaluable resource, both Kit Harington (Jon Snow) and Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) are still shooting this week. Kit Harington said he plans to cut his hair after he’s done, and it was still long as of the wrap party, so that bit checks out, after a fashion. I don’t know about you guys, but I don’t think it’ll really sink in for me that Game of Thrones is ending until I see Harington with short hair.
