On her dragon Terrax she flew South over the continent Sothoryos for 3 straight years finding only jungle, mountains, & deserts. 10. Terrax
My number 10 is a very, very dark horse. Everything we know about Terrax comes from one paragraph in The World of Ice and Fire. Terrax is the only dragon on this list who died either prior to or in the Doom of Valyria.
Terrax was the dragon of Jaenara Belaerys, a member of a powerful Valyrian family. She flew her dragon over the mysterious southern continent of Sothoryos, going further than anyone had ever travelled before (and since, so as we know). We give Terrax this spot to honor that feat, as well as to provide evidence for my belief that pre-Doom dragons must generally have been superior to their post-Doom kin, thanks to the Valyrians’ superior knowledge. I have no reason to believe that Terrax was necessarily bigger or stronger than any of Daenerys’ children, but consider what it accomplished with Jaenara, I don’t think it would have had hanging with the Targaryen dragons that came along hundreds of years later. Given how little we know, I could even be selling Terrax short here.
