7. Drogon

Speaking of Drogon, he’s my number 7. What can we say about Drogon that you don’t already know, and why is he relatively low on this list?

As huge as Drogon is, by the standards of the dragons of the Targaryen’s heyday, he’s still young and small, even if he’s grown on an order of magnitude faster than other dragons on the series. Also, we still haven’t seen how he fares against another dragon. That will very likely change in season 8, to say nothing of what may happen in the Song of Ice and Fire novels (we say again: Sheepstealer?), but until then, it’s hard to get a great bead on what Drogon can really do.

Yes, he can burn foot soldiers to a crisp and his scales protect him from attack to a degree, but we can say that about all of the dragons that made this list, and many that didn’t. Maybe Drogon is Balerion the Black Dread come again, maybe he is the Stallion That Mounts the World, maybe he is even Lightbringer…but for now I can’t put him any higher than this. But stay tuned.
