Now that filming for the final season of Game of Thrones has wrapped, the cast has begun to drop little teases here and there to wet our appetites. Case in point: Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson (Gregor “the Mountain” Clegane) recently answered a question from a fan on his Instagram account. Instagram Stories disappear after a while, but not before Reddit got ahold of this one:
"[NO SPOILERS] Hafthor Bjornsson (The Mountain) says his favorite scene to film in all of GoT is in season 8! from gameofthrones"
“ happens in season 8…so I can’t speak about it.” Naturally, Reddit’s immediate reaction is to assume that Cleganebowl, the much-hyped confrontation between the Mountain and the Hound, will finally happen in season 8.
It does look like the show may be leading to a rumble. In season 7, the brothers had an intense staredown in the Dragonpit, and Sandor got to say his piece:
"Remember me? Yeah, you do. You’re even fucking uglier than I am now. What did they do to you? Doesn’t matter. It’s not how it ends for you brother. You know who’s coming for you. You’ve always known."
Get hype?
Anyways, this isn’t the only thing Björnsson has posted about season 8 to his Instagram account lately:
We’re not sure when he took this photo, but no matter the case, it’s an image that will keep you up at night. You can also click the arrow above to see another photo of Björnsson in full armor in makeup, this time from more of a distance.
What do you think: will we get Cleganebowl in season 8? Care to hazard a guess as to what Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson’s favorite scene might involve?

Elsewhere in Mountain news, Björnsson talked to Off the Ball about his original audition for Game of Thrones. “I was a fan of the show and I was watching the show when I got the offer,” he remembered. “I didn’t really believe it in the beginning. It was surreal, I didn’t believe it.”
"When I first got the email, I didn’t believe it and didn’t respond to it straight away – it was too good to be true. It was almost like ‘this is some bullshit, I’m not going to waste my time answering it’ but then actually a few days later, I got this phone call and then things got serious."
And got serious it did. Björnsson was brought on to play the Mountain in season 4, the year he crushed Oberyn Martell’s head like an overripe grape. “When you’re reading it the first time, you’re like ‘F**k, how are we going to do this?'” Björnsson said. “I knew that the show was huge and I knew that the fight as very important to the show and everything like that but I didn’t realise how much attention it would get.”
"Was I ready for it? I couldn’t really prepare myself for it. I didn’t really know it was going to happen so it just kind of came, you know, and now it’s just part of my life. Like I said before, I’m just enjoying the journey. I like the journey, and yeah, I like my fans, and I’m especially enjoying the journey."
One way or another, Björnsson’s journey on Game of Thrones comes to an end next year. Again we say: get hype.
