Georgia: Jaime Lannister
Speaking of redemption stories, there’s none I like better than Jaime Lannister’s. At this point in the story, it’s almost easy to forget that there was a time Jaime was pushing innocent kids out of windows. He was reviled at the beginning of the series, and for good reason.
Now, it’s hard not to like him. Yeah, he kept up an affair with his sister for a long time, but he’s really started to separate and become more of his own person.
I connect Jaime with Georgia because they share similar pasts. They both come from long, rich dynasties. Georgia was well known for its gentleman and belles. It was a state that relied heavily on tradition, family name and money. Like the a patrician patriarch in the old south, Jaime’s father Tywin places a very high value on family, as well as on honor and power.
Also like Georgia, Jaime has been transformed since his childhood days spent in his southron home. Georgia has evolved past plantation life to become home to a thriving cultural center in Atlanta, while still retaining its roots. Jaime has changed, too, and still has miles to go.
