Nebraska: Gendry

Nebraska is one of those states filled with those salt of the earth people who make America awesome. This state doesn’t try to be fancy or anything it’s not; instead, it prides itself on its simple pleasures and no-nonsense attitude.

It’s here in the Cornhusker State that the sky itself is a major tourist attraction, cows reign supreme (the famous Omaha Steaks being just one example), and people treat football like a religion, with 90,000 fans making their way to Memorial Stadium on game day. It’s home to blue collar stars like Larry the Cable Guy, and one of its iconic works of art is actually Stonehenge made over with old cars. Nebraska is down to earth and a lot of fun.

Gendry is one of the more practical characters on Game of Thrones. The bastard son of King Robert, he was born in the unassuming Flea Bottom neighborhood of King’s Landing and worked as an apprentice to a blacksmith.

Like the no-nonsense Nebraskans, Gendry doesn’t care about the high life or putting on airs. Even after he is made aware of his true parentage, his personality doesn’t really change. I’d like to think he’d enjoy a quiet life in Nebraska, maybe trading in his skills with a hammer to play for the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
