North Carolina: Cersei Lannister

I matched up Jaime Lannister with Georgia, so it follows that twincestual sister Cersei should get the same southern treatment. For her, I’ve picked North Carolina, which neighbors Georgia and is home to its own Southern dynasties.

More than any of the Lannister siblings, Cersei seems to care deeply about her last name. As a woman in the Seven Kingdoms, she relies on her family reputation to gain advantage and win influence. Cersei is often ruthless in her pursuit of power, and being a Lannister gives her access to a deep war chest of gold, not to mention plenty of troops.

It fits, then, that she be matched with a state that has a long history of family pride. Cersei was raised to be a proper lady and would have fit right in alongside southern belles, although she’d probably harbor more malice than most.

It’s also fitting that North Carolina is a coastal state, like Cersei’s childhood home of Casterly Rock (or her adopted home of King’s Landing). Incidentally, the Tar Heel State was a popular site during the Gold Rush. The Lannister fortune depends on the rich veins of gold under Casterly Rock. If she could give up her quarters in the Red Keep, Cersei would probably feel right at home on the beaches of North Carolina. This state has everything she needs to feel both powerful and luxurious.
