Connecticut: Three-Eyed Raven
We didn’t get to see a lot of the Three-Eyed Raven on screen (at least, not in human form), but what we did see was fascinating. He appeared in different forms throughout seasons 1, 3, 4, and 6, but we didn’t learn much about him until that last one.
For most of his life, the Three-Eyed Raven was the last Greenseer. His primary objective was to teach Bran Stark about Greensight and to groom him into a successor. The two spend most of sixth season seeing visions of the past, with the end oal being for Bran to learn “everything.”
Like Bran’s mysterious teacher, the state of Connecticut places a high value on information and learning. The Constitution State is home to both the oldest public library and the longest running newspaper in the United States. It’s also where the first Constitution in the American Colonies was written and is the home of Yale .
Connecticut is the home of Yale University, one of the country’s most illustrious Ivy League schools. More generally, USA Today recently ranked the state as the 5th best in education, based on things like graduation rate and public school spending.
While the Three-Eyed Raven is by no means a traditional teacher, his desire to educate Bran fits very well with Connecticut’s attitude toward education. He’s certainly a step above some of the close-minded maesters.
