Colorado: Lysa Arryn

I’ve paired Lysa Arryn with Colorado because there’s a joke here just begging to be made. Colorado famously legalized marijuana in 2012. While recreational drugs might not have a place in the Seven Kingdoms (and not that pot would ever make you throw people out windows), Lysa Arryn acts pretty freakin’ high sometimes.

The Lady Regent of the Vale has always been intense. When we’re introduced to her, she’s literally breastfeeding her grown child. She makes brash, vengeful decisions and likes to punish those who have wronged her in violent ways. She’s been known to throw prisoners in Sky Cells and eventually confesses to murdering her husband. She’s emotional, pliable, and rarely seems in control of herself. Lysa never quite has a firm grip on her own life.

Beyond the drug connection, Colorado is a good fit for Lysa because it has similarities with the Vale; it’s a mountainous state that draws in visitors eager to take in its beautiful sights. The mountains are so popular that Colorado’s baseball team is literally named for some of them: the Rockies.

If there’s one thing Lysa loves more than her precious Petyr and Robin, it’s her mountain hideaway. If Lysa were living in the U.S., she’d probably try to find a similar spot in The Centennial State.
