Sophie Turner: Game of Thrones season 8 is “full of betrayal”
By Corey Smith
Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) is appearing on the cover of 1883 magazine, and dropping hints about Game of Thrones season 8 while she’s at it. Her issue hits newsstands on July 31, but Just Jared has some excerpts ahead of time.
For the cover, Turner worked with novice photographer Brooklyn Beckham, the son of David and Victoria Beckham. “We wanted very modern clothing, but a retro set. So I really wanted bold colours, really interesting, kind of fun poses. Something really modern.”
So who’s idea was the toilet?
Anyway, the season 8 teases:
"What can you know… this season is bloodier than ever. It’s full of betrayal, full of war, full of danger. That’s all I can say without giving too much away."
Season 8 being full of war and danger is hardly surprising considering what we’re seen from the set, but the betrayal part makes us nervous. Tyrion betrays Daenerys? Sansa betrays Jon? Hot Pie betrays his diet?
Turner also talked about how she deals with what Jared calls “fan hysteria”; Game of Thrones fans are fantastic, of course, but we’re also a passionate bunch. “It doesn’t get frustrating,” Turner said. “I mean it’s entertaining. It does happen. I remember when I dyed my hair blonde, and everyone thought Sansa was a Targaryen. Everyone reads very much into what we do in our personal lives.”
Take, for example, the time Turner showed off a Game of Thrones-themed tattoo, which some fans took as a spoiler for the final season:
"Obviously, you know the tattoo is related to the show. It’s just a quote from last season. I think the die-hard fans know that but we like the speculation. It keeps it interesting! Also, the more off the mark, the better for our season. So you know, I’ll throw them off with anything. I’m going to get a tattoo of completely wrong hints on my forehead."
We endorse that plan.
