Game of Thrones characters we’d love to see return from the dead…and some we wouldn’t

The simple giant Hodor (Kristian Nairn) was one of the show’s most beloved characters; his death at the hands of a pack of angry wights remains one of the show’s most painful moments, particularly after learning how blameless and innocent Hodor was during the most painful and traumatic experiences of his life.

Given the manner of Hodor’s death, if the gentle giant did return, it would probably be as a wight, something we’re pretty sure would break our hearts into a thousand pieces. Watching an undead Hodor attempt to kill characters we love would be too much to bear; surely even Bran the human computer would shed a tear at that sight. Also, a wight of Hodor’s size and build would have incredible strength and prove a formidable enemy, only outmatched by those creepy giants we keep seeing in the Night King’s army.

Nairn has — playfully, we hope — teased a return for Hodor, but we’re begging showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss not to let it happen. We’ve seen plenty of shocking moments on the show, but bringing back the Stark’s loyal servant would be cruel and unusual even by this show’s standards. We’ve suffered enough, and so has Hodor.
