Filming on the final season of Game of Thrones has been finished for a few weeks now, but Emmy-nominated composer Ramin Djawadi has yet to write any new music for the show. “I haven’t even started season 8,” he told Radio.com. “I don’t really come into play until they go into post-production, which is when they stop shooting and then really get into the editing process of each episode. It still takes a little bit to get the episodes in shape for me to kind of come in.”

It can’t be long now. And Djawadi is already thinking about what he’ll do when he finally gets a load of the new episodes.

"I have all these thoughts, or hopes of how I would love some of the themes to come back, or how to arrange them differently. But ultimately it’s impossible for me to tell until I see the episodes, and see the plot. That’s really what guides me of how I will write the music."

Until then, the composer will have his hands full with the North American leg of the Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience, where he’ll play the show’s iconic tunes accompanies by a full orchestra.

“People that are big fans of the show, it’s a perfect summary and it kind of takes you all back to season one and all the way now to season seven,” Djawadi said. “And for people that don’t know the show, it’s just a great crash course where you get to see all the characters and all the plots and you really get to see what the show’s all about. It really makes you feel like you’re in Westeros.”
