Nathalie Emmanuel: Game of Thrones season 8 is “incredibly exciting and heartbreaking”

Every Game of Thrones fan is wondering how the final season of the show will wrap up the incredible story they’ve been following for eight years. Who will live and who will die? Which of the dozens of characters will get happy endings? Who will end up on the Iron Throne? Will there even be an Iron Throne? Will Bronn get a castle? And so on.

Speaking to the Hindustan Times, Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei) intimated that we’re in for a wild ride to the finish. “I think what we can expect from the final season of GoT is just a real push,” she said. “Like in the last couple of seasons, we have seen the pace of the show increase with the stakes getting higher and higher. There are so many storylines that have to come to conclusion. We have to play them out, so the pace of the show is continuing on that sense.”

“There are so many characters and stories that haven’t found their conclusion,” she continued. “So, this season is going to be incredibly satisfying for people. It is going to be incredibly exciting and heartbreaking.”

When last we left our heroes, and our villains, and our antiheroes, the Night King and his army of the dead were marching on the North. It will be up to characters like Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen to stop his army of the dead, all the while considering the threat posed by Cersei Lannister on the Iron Throne in the south. We’re getting worked up just writing about it, and the way Emmanuel talks, the final six episodes will send us into emotional overdrive:

"[Season 8 will have] all of the things that you expect from Game of Thrones, but at the same time, since it is the last one, the emotions will be so much more intense. I am very excited for people to see it. We have been working so hard on it. The production is finished now. It took us longer to shoot this season than any of the seasons"

And so our breathless watch continues. Is there anything else Emmanuel can say to fire us up even more? “I feel like people will have their mind blown when they watch the final one.” Thanks.
