Play as your favorite characters in Reigns: Game of Thrones, a new mobile game
Developer Nerial and publisher Devolver Digital have partnered with HBO to create a new mobile video game: Reigns: Game of Thrones, a “swipe ‘em up series” based on our favorite show. The game will launch on the iOS App Store, Google Play, and Steam for $3.99 in October, and is available for pre-order now.
So what will you do in Reigns? Just so:
"Reigns: Game of Thrones extends beyond the HBO® series and explores possible futures for key characters as seen through the fiery visions of Red Priestess, Melisandre. Players can choose to rule as Cersei Lannister, Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, Tyrion Lannister, Sansa Stark, and more while changing between each king and queen to face challenges and mysteries unique to their story. Melisandre’s flames have proven hard to decipher and less than reliable, so players may encounter stories they do not expect. Peer into the flames and you may see Cersei rebuild the Great Sept of Baelor or discover what could happen to the Seven Kingdoms if Sansa Stark married Jaime Lannister.Players will choose characters to claim the Iron Throne while carefully navigating the complex relationships and hostile factions of the Seven Kingdoms. Employ ruthless tactics to outwit political rivals, wield impervious charm on your fickle bannerman, and maintain the balance and favor of the people to extend your reign to maybe, one day, survive the horrors of a winter in Westeros. Decide the fate of Seven Kingdoms and those that reside in your land to the soaring score of the HBO series."
A reality where Sansa Stark is married to Jaime Lannister? Well, they could bond over…uh…I’ve got nothing. They both have complicated feelings about Cersei?
There’s also a nifty trailer:
Kudos for using “Light of the Seven” there.
This is a big week for Game of Thrones mobile games. Just the other day, we reported on Game of Thrones Winter is Coming, a browser game that lets you play the part of a Westerosi lord trying to put a stop to the War of the Five Kings; the story of that game kicks off right after the death of Ned Stark. But Reigns will let fans play as characters from the show, and everyone looks as they did at the end of season 7, right down to Arya’s mini-Ned outfit. This game is up-to-the-minute.
You can learn more about the game on its official website. With all the games available, fans should have plenty to occupy themselves between know and when the final season of the show drops during the first half of 2019.
