Man Crush Monday: Celebrating Teddy Flood
Teddy Flood of Westworld is more than man crush material. Besides the fact that actor James Marsden has chiseled good looks, bright eyes, and beautifully tousled hair, his character on the show is a gentleman at all costs.
And considering, that this gentleman spent most of the first season getting killed for his nobility, we need to take out time on this fine Monday to celebrate Mr. Flood. Teddy Flood was programmed to enter Westworld as Dolores Abernathy’s cavalier protector and the man she would spend endless time planning a future that would never come.
What’s even sadder is that he was just a walking bullseye and every human visitor that had a chance to kill him did so with no regrets. In one of the first episodes, we even saw how the guests talk about using him as target practice if they get bored and he was their trusted guide!
But in the next season, Dolores upgrades Teddy to be forceful and uncompromising. But our boy Teddy is such a sweetheart he was able to take a stance against being part of Dolores’ plans by ending his own life. No worries, Flood is now a happy resident of the Valley Beyond.
It is Teddy’s sense of wanting a better life and not wanting to hurt others in the process that makes him so special. He would have rather picked out a corner of Westworld with Dolores at his side for the rest of eternity, and we salute you Teddy for holding on to the real dream we should all be chasing.
James Marsden has a history of playing characters with strong, noble qualities. He is best known for his part as Scott Summers aka Cyclops in the X-Men franchise. Cyclops is also a man focused on protecting the woman he loves as is Prince Edward, Marsden’s role in the movie Enchanted. He’s also had some significant parts in The Notebook, Hairspray, and 30 Rock.
And in real life, Marsden is a super Dad of three children. Earlier this year he was cheerleading from the audience for his eldest son Jack, who made his debut as a Dolce and Gabanna model on the runway of the Fall 2018/2019 spread.
For those Teddy Flood fans that can’t wait to see what they will do with his character next season, it might be a wait as Westworld is rumored to return in 2020. But Marsden will be back on screen in an incredible film as early as July 2019.
He has been added to the stellar cast of Quentin Tarantino’s, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. It’s a movie about making it in Hollywood during the late 60’s around the time of the Charles Manson murders. Marsden will share the screen with Leo Dicaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, and Al Pacino–just to name a few.
