9) KHAL DROGO (Previous Ranking: Unranked)

It’s difficult to know where to place Khal Drogo on this list. Like Syrio Forel, he’s obviously a fine warrior, but we didn’t get to see him fight much onscreen. But also like Forel, we can assume Drogo wouldn’t have gotten to where he is if he didn’t have a lot of martial skill. This is especially true for someone who grew up among the warlike Dothraki, where strength is law. Again, we must use our imagination to try to visualize who could overcome Drogo in mortal combat and who could not.

Fortunately, we did get a graphic display of Drogo’s abilities during his duel with Mago in “The Pointy End” (S1/E8), where Drago tosses his daggers aside and takes on the powerful senior bloodrider with his bare hands. Drogo disarms Mago and kills him with his own weapon, ripping his tongue out through his throat for good measure. Too bad Drogo soon dies from an infected wound that he himself caused by leaning into Mago’s blade.
