The (thought to be) bastard Jon Snow is a hero who fights with tenacity, fury, earnestness and sometimes downright desperation. He may not be the most elegant or polished fighter — he’s disciplined and workmanlike on the field of battle, as befits his pragmatic and unshowy personality — but he gets called into the breach over and over again and always finds a way to emerge triumphant.

Snow is one of best swordsmen in the Night’s Watch and cut down many a wildling, and defeated a White Walker lieutenant in “Hardhome” (though having killed a White Walker isn’t the only criteria we’re using; elsewise Samwell Tarly would be on this list). Finally, he fought down the nefarious Ramsay Bolton with a shield and his bare hands.
