Sweden: Ygritte
Even for a Game of Thrones character, the wildling Ygritte is unlucky in love. She thought she had finally found a partner in Jon Snow, only to have him turn out to be working for the other side, even if he sympathized with her and her people. Then, after resolving to get over him and pay him back for betraying her, she gets straight up murdered before she or he can set things right.
Her experiences make me think of all the “he did me wrong” songs out there, and who sings that kind of music than Sweden’s own ABBA? I’m pretty sure that if Ygritte lived in Europe “The Winner Takes It All” would be her break-up jam.
Regardless of her taste in music, Ygritte would enjoy Sweden for other reasons. For one thing, the weather is perfect for a born-and-raised wildling. It’s not the coldest place in Europe, but it has some great ice-related attractions, such as a hotel made from ice and an ice hockey team that shoots to kill.
And outdoorsy type, Ygritte would also like Sweden’s robust camping scene. Here, she could watch the northern lights or the midnight sun, and even catch a husky ride if she felt in the mood.
