Monaco: Sansa Stark

These days Sansa Stark is something of a killer lady boss, but that wasn’t always the case. In fact, when we started the series, she was downright whiny and helpless. Thankfully, she’s grown a lot since the Joffrey era and has learned how to wield power as the acting Lady of Winterfell, all while keeping the feminine edge that has stayed with her since childhood.

It’s this mix of gentility and steel that I think makes Sansa a great fit for Monaco. In terms of population, this country is small, but it’s got a big personality and a history that makes me think of the eldest Stark girl.

In 1956, Prince Rainier of Monaco married popular American actress Grace Kelly. Suddenly, the eyes of the world were on Monaco. Grace Kelly was well-known for being refined and the definition of chic. When she became a princess, the public loved her, and she was able to use her finesse and presence to draw increased attention to her adopted country.

Sansa is a bit of a Grace Kelly herself. While she didn’t marry in to her current title (she tried that a couple times, against her will, and it sucked), she’s proven herself more than capable of leading a people with confidence and grace.
