United Kingdom: Tywin Lannister
Olenna Tyrell cares deeply about family legacy, but Tywin Lannister may top her. He places the maintenance of the Lannister family line above all else, even above the happiness of his actual children. The Lannisters have a reputation as power players, and Tywin intends to keep it that way.
Our apologies to the United Kingdom, but we had to match someone with the country, and considering the UK’s storied reputation as a major player on the world stage, Tywin seemed a natural fit. (And come on, you can’t be too insulted; you can argue that Tywin is a villain, but even then, he’s the best villain ever.) If Tywin were living in modern Europe, I’m sure he’d settle into a metropolitan center like London and climb his way to the top of the financial or political food chain.
If he could, Tywin would likely try to maneuver one of his children into the monarchy itself. He married his daughter Cersei to King Robert Baratheon and his son Tyrion to Sansa Stark, then the heir to the North. The man wants to expand his influence and knows how to get it done.
If Tywin had been alive in the UK during the Revolutionary War, there’s a decent chance he would have squashed that perky American rebellion; after all, he managed to squash Robb Stark’s Northern resistance. Tywin Lannister does not stand for any threat against his rule.
