With just weeks until Doctor Who returns, details for the first two episodes of Series Eleven have been revealed! Plus, see below for a brand new promotional image of the series…
Are you excited about Series Eleven starting in less than three weeks? Eager to know more details of what to expect? At Doctor Who Watch, so are we. Particularly as Chris Chibnall and everyone else have been so quiet about Series Eleven. We’ve been given hints, teasers and leaks (the last of which wasn’t planned), but not much else.
However, with the series about to return very soon, details are finally being released about what to expect from the upcoming series. The latest of which include episode details, at least for the first two episodes of the series. Do they give us a good idea of what to expect?
The Woman Who Fell to Earth
The first episode is called, very fittingly, The Woman Who Fell to Earth, and has been written by new showrunner Chris Chibnall.
"“We don’t get aliens in Sheffield.” In a South Yorkshire city, Ryan Sinclair, Yasmin Khan and Graham O’Brien are about to have their lives changed forever, as a mysterious woman, unable to remember her own name, falls from the night sky. Can they believe a word she says? And can she help solve the strange events taking place across the city?"
So what do we know from this description? Unsurprisingly, not much, or at least, not too much. (I’ve mentioned before how this site prefers to avoid major spoilers, if possible.) The new companions have of course been mentioned, but nothing that still gives us any idea of what they’re like.
However, we do know that the new Doctor will be suffering at least a little amnesia from her regeneration. This won’t have been the first time that this has happened. Some Doctors have had a mild case of it, like Five in his first story. Others, have been more extreme, such as Eight. It’ll be interesting to see how severe Thirteen’s amnesia will be.
The Ghost Monument
Episode two has the interesting title The Ghost Monument and has also been written by Chibnall.
"Still reeling from their first encounter, can the Doctor and her new friends stay alive long enough, in a hostile alien environment , to solve the mystery of Desolation? And just who are Angstrom and Epzo?"
Some interesting details learned from this description. It sounds like it’ll be continuing directly from their first adventure together, which is promising. Even better is that it looks like we’ll be getting our first alien world of the series. So this sounds equally exciting.

Lastly, there’s a brand new image featuring Thirteen and her new companions. Which is interesting, as the last promotional image like this, which had the tagline “The universe is calling”, focused solely on Jodie Whittaker as the new Doctor.
However, now that the series is due to be released very shortly, it makes sense to move promotion away from just her, especially if the companions have a very large role to play in the series themselves.
Regardless, I’m glad that we’re finally learning a lot more about the series, while still avoiding any major spoilers. I’m really excited for Series Eleven, and I’m sure many of you are, too.
