Thandie Newton had us in tears as she accepted her 2018 Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series–we couldn’t be more proud!

Thandie Newton defied all odds and won big at last night’s 2018 Emmys. In an unexpected win, she walked away with the Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series and while it came as a shock to her along with many of us, she truly deserves it after an epic arc on Westworld season 2.

The Emmys results always manage to surprise the masses with who wins and who doesn’t and this year Newton managed to beat out The Handmaid’s Tale’s Yvonne Strahovski, Alexis Bledel, and Ann Dowd, Game of Thrones’ Lena Headey, The Crown’s Vanessa Kirby, and Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown.

As you can see, the category was stacked with the best of the best and we are so proud of Thandie Newton for coming out on top, it was a tough battle and a category full of empowering, fierce woman and our girl did it!

Newton wowed the crowd and everyone watching during her acceptance speech as she conveyed her gratitude, disbelief, and appreciation for all the fans and everyone she has had the pleasure of working with on Westworld. She even left a mark during her speech with this one-liner, “I don’t even believe in God, but I’m going to thank her tonight.”
