There are dragons underneath Winterfell

Of all the theories here, this might be the one I most want to be true. How awesome would it be for a dragon to come bursting forth from the crypts of Winterfell just in time to save everyone from zombies? But how likely is it?

A lot of the evidence for this one comes from Martin’s novels. It hinges on Winterfell being built over a hot springs, which is how the castle stays so cozy and warm during the winter. But is it really over a hot springs…or something else? You see where we’re going with this…

It a dragon. It’s under the castle. It makes it hot.

Fans have even figured out how a dragon could have gotten there. Around the start of the Dance of the Dragons — a civil war that tore through Westeros over a century before Game of Thrones began — Jacaerys Velayron rode his dragon Vermax north to treat with the Starks. The rumor is that Vermax laid a clutch of dragon eggs below the castle. At least one hatched, and the rest is history.

Is this a case of wishful thinking, or do the pieces fit together? Now that Viserion is dead, Dany could use an extra dragon, and we’d love to see Jon mount one long sheltered by House Stark.
