Talking up the next season of Game of Thrones is part and parcel of being a cast member, but Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) is raising the bar on hype. “I think it’s going to be the best season of television anyone has ever seen,” he told The Belfast Telegraph. “It takes you to a place that you never saw coming, that I didn’t see coming and just, yeah, be prepared. It’s a fun ride.”

That is some big talk, big and welcome. We’ve been watching this show since the beginning and have gotten to know it very well, and I’ll be happy if it manages to surprise me in the home stretch.

Dinklage made his comments at the Hollywood premiere of his new movie My Dinner with Hervé, where he plays actor Hervé Villechaize. He also spoke to Entertainment Tonight, below:

“There are no better writers in television than Dan Weiss and David Benioff,” Dinklage said of the final season. “They ended it brilliantly. Better than I could have imagined and you people are in for it.”

And what about Tyrion specifically? Is Dinklage satisfied with how the show leaves him? “It ends beautifully for my character,” he said, “whether it be tragic or not.” Ooh.

There have some spoilers regarding Tyrion floating around out there for a little while now. You can investigate if you like, but if you do, take Dinklage’s advice and be prepared.

Anyway, Dinklage wasn’t the only Game of Thrones star at the event. None other than Emilia Clarke, the Mother of Dragons herself, showed up to support him:

Clarke is rocking her new short hairdo here, proving that Kit Harington isn’t the only Thrones alum whose hair fans pay inordinate attention.

Anyway, My Dinner with Hervé is an HBO film. Based on the trailer, Dinklage gives a meaty, transformative performance:

Villechaize was a hard-living guy who took full advantage of his outsized fame before committing suicide in 1993. Dinklage ruminated on the nature of fame, something he now knows a little about, to Entertainment Tonight:

"It’s an abstract idea that really has very little to do with you at the end of the day. It comes from a lot of hard work, but oftentimes, it’s sort of a goal rather than a residual of hard work…The number one thing when kids are asked what do they wanna be when they grow up lately is they say, ‘I want to be famous.’ And they don’t really have a comprehension of what it means to be that, they just want to be famous and we sort of address that in the movie."

HBO subscribers will be able to watch My Dinner with Hervé on October 20.
