Yara Greyjoy: Alien

My girl Yara would never choose a movie with a male protagonist as her favorite. Sure, she’ll watch and enjoy male-driven action flicks, but her favorite movie has a feature a girl kicking butt. There are few female leads just as there are few female military leaders in Westeros, and she’d want to see herself reflected on the silver screen.

Perhaps the most iconic movie with a rockin’ female protagonist is Ridley Scott’s space horror masterpiece Alien. The film stars Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley, a warrant officer who has to face off with the eponymous Alien if she wants to get home alive. Ripley is no damsel in distress. She’s smart, heroic and one heck of a fighter. Yara could easily get on board with a protagonist like her: Ripley is exactly the kind of woman she strives to be.

The movie’s action scenes would also appeal to Yara. The suspense is unrelenting, with dread growing with each passing moment. As a skilled fighter and leader herself, Yara would relish all of it, and love watching the complex face-offs with the Alien. She’d hold her breath in anticipation of the next encounter, and then play it over after the credits rolled. We imagine she’d be way into the entire Alien franchise, wishing in the back of her mind that she could step into Ripley’s shoes and face down the Alien itself.
