Back in September, we learned that former Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul would be joining the cast of Westworld, the show where robots philosophize and kill people, for its third season. Now he’s speaking out. Talking with Digital Spy the other day, Paul said he’s “been such a massive fan from day one, so this is such a great, fun opportunity to take on.”
Of course, the actor couldn’t reveal much about his role, including whether he’s playing a robot or a human, but he did talk generally about what fans can expect.
"All I can say is it’s par for the course. What is so great about Westworld is it’s just so inventive and different and dangerous and gory, but this doesn’t shy away from that, this particular new addition. I’m excited to join the team, that’s really all I can say."
When Paul mentions “this particular new addition,” it’s hard to tell if he’s talking about his character or the season. In any case, the show needs a shot in the arm, so we’re all for anything exciting and new.

Showrunners Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan are promising new things as well, with Nolan teasing a “radical shift” in season 3:
"What’s compelling and appealing about these characters is that they’re not human. As we said in the show, humans are bound by the same loops the hosts are, in some ways even smaller. You couldn’t expect human characters to withstand and survive the kind of story that we’re telling. The hosts have a different version of mortality, a different outlook. I think clearly with Dolores, as she’s laid out, there is a longer view here, a larger set of goals. They’re existential. They span eons. And that’s a fascinating level of story to engage in."
Sounds promising to us. We’re excited to see what Paul brings to the table, particularly if in involves magnets:
Westworld season 3 is coming out a while from now. That’s all we got. We’re not psychics.
