Thandie Newton: A very happy birthday to the incomparable Maeve Millay!

Yipee, Thandie Newton celebrates her 46th birthday today!

Thandie Newton has such a timeless beauty about her, and if we knew any better, we’d say she doesn’t look a day over 30. Today is Newton’s 46th birthday and there is so much to celebrate about this amazing human being.

Not only does she shine as Maeve Millay on Westworld, but Thandie Newton is a philanthropist, activist, and the type of person that we can all look up to and admire for her valiant and beautiful efforts. Whether it be her work as an executive producer on the upcoming animated docuseries, Liyana, that follows five orphaned children in Swaziland, or her variety of roles in shows and films across the board–she’s someone we adore so much.

On her 46th birthday, we want to take a moment and display our appreciation for a woman that goes above and beyond to help those in need. Newton is an advocate for so many important things including the climate, politics, women’s rights, and has been at the forefront of embracing nudity on television through her role on Westworld. 

In fact, in 2016, Newton reported that a director showed a video of an audition she did that was sexually graphic to his friends which is what prompted her to take on the role of Maeve in Westworld. Due to the amount of nudity in the series, she felt it helped to mirror the experiences of sexual abuse survivors while reflecting on the concept of humanity.
