GQ makes Richard Madden (Robb Stark) watch the Red Wedding, and other fun stuff

Richard Madden is a talented actor with a lot of cool credits to his name. He has a recent hit in Bodyguard, where he plays a protection officer grappling with post-traumatic stress, and there are even rumors that he might be the next James Bond, although he’s not confirming anything. Still, for a certain subset of fans, he’ll always be Robb Stark, the doomed King in the North from Game of ThronesGQ reminded him of that when it made him watch Robb’s death during a recent interview, which is awesome, and also very sad:

“I think it’s really rude you made me watch this.” Well, we think its amazing! It equals out.

It’s also interesting to hear Madden’s recollections of the days immediately following the historic Red Wedding shoot. “And then, I rushed to get on the last flight back to London…[I was] covered in fake blood, exhausted, and just sobbing very loudly on the plane. And people were looking at me quite strangely, cause it looks like I just murdered someone and got on a flight, which in fact I hadn’t; I’d been murdered.”

Elsewhere, Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) has followed Kit Harington’s lead and changed up her hairstyle, something she can finally do now that Game of Thrones has finished filming. Her transformation may be more dramatic:

Other cast members are booking new gigs. Take Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei), who Metro UK reports has landed the lead role in Netflix’s upcoming series based on the ’90s rom-com classic Four Weddings and A Funeral. Emmanuel will play Maya, “an unlucky in love twenty something” in this reboot from writing Mindy Kaling. No swords or dragons here, just a group of friends navigating the London dating scene.

Meanwhile, Sean Bean (Ned Stark) has joined the cast of the BBC World War II drama World on Fire, which also features Helen Hunt, Lesley Manville, Jonah Hauer-King and Julia Brown. “I am thrilled to be part of this ambitious drama,” Bean said. “Peter Bowker’s study of the human stories that thread through this huge global conflict is fascinating and something I look forward to being part of on screen.”

We hope Bean escapes with his head this time…although we’re not holding our breath.
