#ForTheThrone: Game of Thrones takes over New York and LA

The final season of Game of Thrones is speeding towards us like a wall of mounted knights, and HBO wants you to know it. The network is rolling out its #ForTheThrone marketing campaign, which highlights important moments in various characters’ quests for power. Just lately, HBO paid the big bucks to get the word about season 8 out in heavily trafficked places, like Grand Central Station in New York City:

Don’t say the word “whore” and you’ll be fine.

There are even ads on the stairs:

There are even ads on the turnstyles!

There’s also a big ol’ ad in Times Square, although it may not be the sort of ad you want to see as you walk through a city:

But the most impressive ad may be on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. Why settle for plastering something on the side of a staircase when you can have a whole building?

That’s gonna traumatize at least a few commuters. Maybe HBO should have gone with this Reddit edit:

"#ForTheMord from freefolk"

HBO is also putting together a bunch of character retrospectives to get us good and hyped for the final season. It’ll be fun to see what else they pull out of their bag of tricks between now and April. And thanks to Reddit’s EveryFckngChicken for collecting these images in one place.
