Westworld: Was that Nymeria the direwolf in the season 2 premiere?
By Ariba Bhuvad
So, that direwolf in the Westworld season 2 premiere. Anyone else catch that?
Westworld season 2 premiered back in April, and the premiere had fans flocking to their television screens to experience the glorious, long-awaited return. If you were amongst the ones that were paying close attention, you may have noticed something interesting in one of the scenes.
But before we talk about who or what we’re referring to, it’s important to note one thing. HBO is home to both Westworld and Game of Thrones. They are two of the biggest shows on television today and given they’re both on HBO, fans would love the idea of a crossover.
Game of Thrones will be ending in 2019, and although a crossover is probably a far-fetched idea, fans did get a little something to cling onto from the season 2 premiere. It’s not confirmed or official, but fans have speculated that Arya’s direwolf was the same one in the Westworld season 2 premiere.
In fact, many fans took to Twitter during the premiere to express their curiosity as well. To make matters more interesting, back in 2016 author George R.R. Martin expressed interested in a crossover during dinner with the Westworld showrunners. Come on Nolans, make it happen!
I mean, how cool would it be if Game of Thrones was one of the Delos parks? Could you imagine how epic and mindblowing that would be? Just the idea of it gives me goosebumps.
Another speculation that was made regarding Westworld and Game of Thrones had to do with the name, Ned. The Man in Black’s horse’s name is Ned. Ned, meaning Ned Stark…possibly. It might be some of us just grasping for straws, but that’s all part of the fun!
Whether or not the wolf seen throughout season 2 is just another animal roaming around the parks, or Arya’s direwolf is unknown. And the lack of confirmation hasn’t stopped fans from playing around with the idea anyway.
