23. Nardole

Nardole is up next, a companion to not only The Doctor but to River Song as well.

A companion during the twelfth Doctor’s era before Nardole came across The Doctor, Nardole formerly had a life of crime. This past life led him to becoming a an employee, or companion, of River Song the future wife of The Doctor and someone who may or may not show up in a future slide, when he felt deep remorse for what he had done in the past and hoped to make amends for everything he had done.

So committed to the cause, Nardole ended up getting himself beheaded while in the service of River by King Hydroflax. Using Nardole’s beheaded head, Hydroflax used the information he discovered in order to figure out the whereabouts of River. The Doctor, knowing how things would end for her, a.k.a her death, decided to rebuild Nardole for fear of being alone.

Nardole then became the companion of the twelfth Doctor. Upon which The Doctor found out that the last instructions given to him by River, he was to ensure Missy would not be executed. The Doctor did just that and prevented Missy’s execution, but instead, he swore an oath to watch over Missy for 1000 years.

During this time, The Doctor met Bill, another companion who might be here to, and Nardole went with them, acting as a constant reminder to The Doctor that he was supposed to be taking his oath of watching Missy seriously.

Shortly following the departure of Bill, The Doctor asked Nardole to leave him in order to look after, and defend, a small group of villagers that they had manged to save on board the Cyberman colony ship.
