BBC and Netflix are bringing us a new adaptation of Watership Down, Richard Adam’s beloved 1972 children’s book. Watership Down follows a group of rabbits searching for a new home. It might sound like some great holiday fare, but this story has more in common with Game of Thrones than Little Bunny Foo Foo. Check out the super-somber, very metal new trailer:

So it looks like we’re sticking closer to the dark source material than the 1978 adaptation. This go-round, the filmmakers are using computer animation, and have drafted an all-star voice cast that includes James McAvoy, Peter Capaldi, John Boyega and Ben Kingsley. For those unfamiliar with the book, it follows a group of rabbits who flee their home based on the dire vision of one member, much like the Targaryens fled Valyria of old. And while our refugees don’t set out to conquer the Seven Kingdoms, their search for a new home is filled with genocide, sacrifice and epic battles between some cute, and not so cute, bunnies. Rock on.

Across the pond, the adaptation will air as two feature-length movies on the BBC, while Netflix will stream it as a miniseries in the U.S. An exact release date has not been confirmed, but it’s out sometime this month.
