Every year, FanSided puts together a list of the top 250 fandoms in the world, and every year, the Game of Thrones fandom inevitably places high. The 2018 Fandom 250 list has just come out, and once again, the Game of Thrones fandom sits atop all the TV fandoms represented, and at #11 overall. Not bad considering the show didn’t release any new episodes this year!

And why not? Year after year, Game of Thrones fans have shown themselves to be resourceful, creative, and incredibly passionate. Remember the guy who 3D- printed a life-size Tyrion Lannister? Or the dozens who dressed up and gathered in Helsinki to simulate Aegon’s Conquest of Westeros? How about the never-ending parade of beautiful fan-made posters for season 8? And of course, we can’t forget Con of Thrones, a four-day long celebration of Game of Thrones and A Song of Ice and Fire held this year in Dallas, Texas. I’m already looking forward to the next one.

Next year could be the biggest year for the Game of Thrones fandom yet. The show’s profile has never been higher, and now that’s it’s ending, people who sat our the bulk of the journey are catching up. And if George R.R. Martin also releases The Winds of Winter next year, 2019 will be a Game of Thrones fansplosion of epic proportions. We’ll see you there!
