Westworld has oh so many theories, but let’s take a moment to dive into a particularly interesting one from season 2!

Westworld season 2 was one epic, confusing storyline. And months later, we are still trying to piece together the puzzle. It’s unlikely we’ll figure it out anytime soon, but hey, we’ve got plenty of theories to dive into in the meantime.

One particular one that stands out is a theory that Refinery29 found on Reddit. It’s something to think about, and may have repercussions in the eventual third season. So what exactly is this theory? That the bodies seen in the body of water are actually human clones.

Maybe you’ve heard this one already, or maybe you feel it’s been disproved, but it’s still rather riveting to talk about anyway. Parts of this Reddit theory were made before the season 2 finale so let’s just talk about the initial theory, what actually happened, and if it makes sense in terms of season 3 of Westworld.

The season 2 finale revealed that Dolores escaped the park as Charlotte, and also left with some consciousness marbles. This theory stated that in order for Dolores to escape she’d have to transfer herself into another body. At the time, Redditor ChaosHill stated that Dolores would do this by transferring into one of the bodies from the water–which were theorized to be human clones.

This theory was fairly spot on regarding the escape plan/transfer, just not the body she would escape in. But let’s talk about the bodies in the water. Just imagine for a moment that Delos is cloning all the human bodies. Could it be a way to set up an escape for other hosts?

We learned all about the Valley Beyond/the Forge/the Library in season 2, but it’d be interesting to truly understand what’s going on here. And if I missed something, please feel free to share your thoughts and insight. Westworld season 2, after all, was quite a perplexing rollercoaster ride.
