Like we said, no one on the cast or crew is dumb enough to give specifics about how the final season of Game of Thrones will go. However, a couple did outline the general theme of the season. âEveryone is coming together to fight the impending doom,â said Turner. âThereâs a lot of tension between these little groups, battling for what they think is right. Itâs Game of Thrones, so itâs going to be bloodier and more death and more emotionally torturous than all the years before.â
Longtime writer Bryan Cogman said something similar about the final episodes:
"[Season 8 is] about all of these disparate characters coming together to face a common enemy, dealing with their own past, and defining the person they want to be in the face of certain death. Itâs an incredibly emotional, haunting, bittersweet final season, and I think it honors very much what George set out to do â which is flipping this kind of story on its head."
Personally, Iâm glad to hear that there will still be room for interpersonal conflict even as the dragons and the White Walkers and the other fantasy elements take center stage.
