Trailer for The Punisher season 2 promises lots of violence, emotional problems
By Corey Smith
Netflix may be canceling its Marvel shows left and right these days, but a couple are still standing. A brand new trailer for the second season of The Punisher promises even more violence than the show’s first outing, assuming that’s possible. Watch it below, and enjoy the oh-so-creepy version of “Would” by Alice in Chains:
Who says fighting doesn’t solve problems? I was bored and now I’m entertained. Problem solved.
In addition to an extended look at Ben Barnes’ take on the villain Jigsaw, we also got our first look at John Pilgrim (Josh Stewart), a religious fundamentalist who appears to team up with Jigsaw in an attempt to bring down Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal), aka the Punisher, aka our hero, aka but maybe not because he’s pretty messed up. Pilgrim is not a character from the comics, so anything could happen with him.
Season 2 will see the return of FBI Agent Dinah Madani (Amber Rose Revah) and Curtis Hoyle (Jason R. Moore), one of the Punisher’s allies. Daredevil star Deborah Ann Woll will also be back as Karen Page, although she doesn’t turn up in the trailer.
Season 2 may or may not be the series’ last. Netflix and Disney have already cancelled Daredevil, Iron Fist and Luke Cage. The theory goes that Disney is no longer keen on having Marvel characters appear elsewhere now that it has its own streaming service, Disney+, on the way. However, The Punisher was made under different deal than the one that produced all those cancelled shows, so it has the best chance of making it out of this cancellation fest alive.
The Punisher season 2 hits Netflix on Friday, January 18th.
