Alt Shift X tours the nine wonders of the world…of Game of Thrones
By Dan Selcke
The world of ice and fire is wildly expansive, so much so that even throughout five books and seven seasons of television, we’ve visited only a fraction of the place George R.R. Martin dreamed up for his fantasy world. In a new video, Game of Thrones YouTuber Alt Shift X — one of the best YouTubers in this subject area, if you’re looking for something to do with the next couple dozen hours of your life — put together a video exploring some of these faraway corners. It’s really good.
Specifically, Alt Shift X is looking at the wonders of the world of Game of Thrones, those structures so impressive that no mere mortal can look upon them without jaws agape. Some we’ve seen on the show and visited in the books — the Wall, the Titan of Braavos, the Long Bridge of Volantis — and some we haven’t, such as the Bells of Norvos and the Palace of Sarnath. You gotta wonder if we’ll see any of the unexplored stuff in HBO’s upcoming Game of Thrones prequel series. Doing justice to descriptions of the kingdom of Yi Ti sounds like a mountain worth climbing.

And yet, as imaginative as these landmarks are, Alt Shift X points out that they’re all based on things we have in our world, just embellished a bit. Time to put that vacation together.
