The Ghostbusters sequel announced yesterday already has a teaser
By Dan Selcke
Yesterday, director Jason Reitman — the son of Ivan Reitman, the guy who directed the first two Ghostbusters films in the ’80s — announced that he was making a new movie. “This is the next chapter in the original franchise,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “It is not a reboot. What happened in the ’80s happened in the ’80s, and this is set in the present day.”
To keep the hype train rolling, a new teaser for the movie came out today. It’s a dark and windy night, and also green, and there’s something amiss happening in an empty barn. Watch if you dare:
That would be the Ecto-1, the Ghostbusters’ main ride, hiding under the sheet at the end there. And we’re back!
Just because Reitman’s movie is a sequel to the first two doesn’t mean the old cast members — Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, etc — will be the center of attention. Sources at The Hollywood Reporter have it that the new film will revolve around a quartet of teenagers, two boys and two girls. There’s also been no mention of how or whether this new movie will relate to 2016’s Ghostbusters. That film, a proper reboot, was an unexpected flashpoint for controversy, both because of uncomfortable sexist stuff and because it was a mediocre shrug of a movie.
