Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) has finished filming Star Wars: Episode IX
All good things must come to an end. Actor Anthony Daniels, who has played the droid C-3PO in literally every Star Wars film save Solo: A Star Wars Story (although he had a cameo as a character named Tak in that movie) announced on Monday that he was done filming his part in Star Wars: Episode IX.
We have no idea what that part is, although C-3PO has been present for some pretty big moments, like the final scene of The Empire Strikes Back, where he gently pats R2-D2 on the head as they look out at the empty vastness of space and ponder their existence:
Daniels isn’t the only actor finished with filming on Episode IX. Richard E. Grant (Izembaro, the leader of the Braavosi troupe of actors in Game of Thrones season 6) recently revealed that he was done:
And according to his Twitter, John Boyega (Finn), one of the leads, is just about finished, as well:
Star Wars: Episode IX is directed by J.J. Abrams, who kicked off this sequel trilogy back in 2015 with The Force Awakens. In addition to Daniels and Grant, the movie will feature all the characters we’ve come to know over the past few years, including Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, despite Luke collapsing into a pile of clothes in The Last Jedi. Carrie Fisher, who died in 2016, will also return as General Leia Organa with the help of some special effects magic. And also Billy Dee Williams will be there, reprising the role of Lando Calrissian.
