Who will win the Iron Throne at the end of Game of Thrones? That’s the question that’s been facing our characters, and everyone at home, since very early on in the series, and with season 8 mere months away, we’re finally going to get our answer.

But what will it be? Will Daenerys fulfill her birthright and sit the incredibly uncomfortable chair occupied by her father? Will Jon Snow finish his Hero’s Journey by ruling Westeros? Will Cersei Lannister surprise everyone and keep her power? Will the show go bleak and have the King King sit the throne? Or could it be a left-field character like Tyrion, Sansa or Gendry? Alt Shift X, that most well-spoken of Game of Thrones YouTubers, breaks down the possibilities:

I like his notes about Jon or Daenerys occupying the throne almost seeming too inevitable. One (or both) of them ruling seems like the most logical outcome, but it’s also the most obvious and we’re modern TV viewers who demand twists on twists. Perhaps a child of their’s could rule instead? That’d be a wrinkle. Or maybe the throne won’t exist by the time this is all over.

Of the left-field characters, I like the idea of Tyrion or Sansa on the throne, but I’m not holding out serious hope for either of those scenarios. How about you? Did Alt Shift X touch on your favorite character to win it all?
